Emerging onto the children's music landscape during the 1980s, Lou Del Bianco quickly cultivated a devoted audience. His compelling narratives and inventive compositions revealed that his considerable height never hindered his ability to view the world through a child's eyes.

Born in Port Chester, New York in 1963, he spent his early years in the same community. A large Italian family that would later appear in his songwriting encouraged his acting pursuits, while the Beatles and James Taylor also left their mark on his musical development. Following high school, he moved to New York City and trained for two years in acting studios there.

A decade later he redirected his focus toward young listeners. In 1991 he issued For Kids Only on Storymaker Records, presenting irreverent perspectives on daily life. Three years afterward Storymaker Records brought out When I Was a Kid, which contained a tale of a frightening basement space and the track "Nikky, Terror of the Family" about a dog; the album received Honors from Parent's Choice.

Del Bianco sustained an energetic touring schedule centered in New York state. In 1996 he released one of his best-known recordings, A Little Bit Clumsy, featuring the doo wop song "Dawn Puccini" and a humorous recounting of Mom's frequent sayings ("A penny saved is a penny earned... did you do your business?"). Around This World appeared in 1997.
