Love Kit stands out for its smart, witty, melodic, and energetic sound, one that not only revives the classic era of power pop but also charts new paths for the genre. Guitarists, vocalists, and songwriters Eddie Jemison and Rich Sparks launched the band in 1996 after their earlier stint together in Silver Drag. Bassist Ellen Phillips, previously a member of hard rockers Rustbucket, and drummer Tim Ford, a veteran of the Midwest punk scene, rounded out the lineup. The group issued its debut album, 10 Milligram Day, in 1997 and followed it with Who's Afraid of the Radio Tower? in 1999. Back home in Chicago, Love Kit has shared stages with Susanna Hoffs, Corey Glover, and the Chamber Strings while also completing a well-received tour of the United Kingdom. Phillips and Ford exited after the 2000 release of The September Heads to explore other musical avenues. In addition to his work with the band, Eddie Jemison maintains an acting career that includes a major supporting role in the 2001 blockbuster Ocean's Eleven.
