Biography
Formed in New York as a synth-pop ensemble, Lovelife arose following the dissolution of the U.K. indie rock group Brother—also called Viva Brother—which came to an end in 2012 while midway through sessions for its follow-up album. That same summer, after relocating to New York, vocalist Lee Newell, drummer Frank Colucci, and guitarist Sam Jackson established the project alongside Ally Young, previously the keyboardist for Mirrors. Having offered the EP El Regreso as a free download via their site in 2012, the band inked a deal with National Anthem Records, embarked on U.S. touring, and issued Fourth Floor before year's end. The year 2013 saw the release of the double A-side single Your New Beloved/Dying to Start Again on their subsequent label Neon Gold Records, along with opening slots for Capital Cities and the Neighbourhood; the group then relocated to Los Angeles for work on their debut full-length and concluded the period by putting out Stateless. Early 2014 brought the return of the Feel EP.
