Biography
Early in 2000, DJ Low B—also known as Low Budget—teamed with mixing partner Diplo to launch the celebrated Philadelphia club act Hollertronix. Their performances wove together threads of soul, dancehall, hip-hop, disco, and the then-emerging Baltimore club sound, quickly drawing large crowds to local rooms such as the 700. By the middle of the decade Low B had stepped out solo, carrying his wide-ranging dance selections through venues nationwide and into the globe’s leading club cities, where he reliably filled dancefloors. In tandem with the mixes issued under the Hollertronix name, he issued multiple standalone DJ recordings that underscored his enthusiasm for every style rooted in dance, above all the high-energy fusion of uptempo dancehall and Baltimore club he dubbed “Club Shotta.”
