Lucas Coly

Kid Lucas, whose given name is Lucas Coly, first drew widespread attention by posting on social platforms and dropping his own material that mixed self-written numbers like “I Just Wanna” with freestyle performances. France is where he entered the world; as a child he relocated with his family to the United States, spending time in Texas before settling in Detroit, Michigan. In the early 2010s, still in his mid-teens, he began cultivating an audience by sharing recordings on Vine, YouTube, Instagram, and SoundCloud. Momentum built in the second half of the decade once he issued a series of independent originals, most prominently the laid-back 2016 single “I Just Wanna,” which soon surpassed a million plays or streams across several services. Capitalizing on that response, he assembled longer collections such as Hottest Tracks, Vol. 1 and I Keeping Pushing, Vol. 1, both from 2017, followed by Heart in 2018.
