Luder

Detroit, Michigan native Luder took shape after Small Stone Records released the unreleased material of a defunct local alternative rock outfit called Slot in 2006, marking the recent death of the group’s guitarist Billy Rivkin. The release prompted a one-off hometown show plus a slot at the 2007 SXSW festival, where former Slot members Sue Lott on bass and vocals and Eddie Alterman on drums were joined by guitarists Phil Durr—previously of Big Chief and Five Horse Johnson, among others—and Scott Hamilton, proprietor of Small Stone. Captivated by the live rapport among the players, three of the four decided to keep playing, bringing in drummer Eric Miller of Five Horse Johnson and formerly of Novadriver to cut their debut album, Sonoluminescence, issued under the Luder name in 2009.
