British folk singer/songwriter Luke Daniels, celebrated for his command of multiple instruments, launched his professional path in the mid-'90s via the instrumental debut Tarantella. Recordings fronting his own projects quickly elevated him within traditional folk circles, while his exceptional skill on the melodeon opened doors to session work alongside Ian Anderson, De Dannan, Cara Dillon, Frank Kilkelly, and Riverdance's touring ensemble. Worldwide travels with assorted acts followed, along with band performances at high-profile sites including the London Jazz Festival and the Royal Festival Hall. He also contributed to the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit soundtracks in collaboration with composer Howard Shore and the London Philharmonic. Following several instrumental projects and more than twenty years as a prized session musician, Daniels redirected his energies toward guitar and piano, initiating a decisive reinvention as a singer/songwriter. That evolution surfaced fully with the 2014 album What's Here What's Gone, a dozen tracks of reflective, warmer, pop-leaning songs that highlighted his abilities as both lyricist and vocalist.
