Luv Machine emerged as a fleeting and little-known act amid the British rock landscape of the early 1970s. The trio of founding members—guitarists and vocalists Michael Bishop and Bob Bowman alongside drummer and vocalist Errol Bradshaw—infused their heavy psych and acid rock with progressive leanings, funky rhythms, and a distinctive outlook rooted in their recent move from Barbados. Bass duties fell to England native John Jeavons after the original player, Merlin Norville, opted to leave the U.K. Following just a handful of rehearsals, the band aimed to cut a debut single titled Witches Wand before 1970 closed, yet the studio work grew into a complete album issued by Polydor in March 1971. Its tracks reflected clear influences from Cream, Jimi Hendrix, and Vanilla Fudge. With neither promotional backing nor financial aid from the label, the group dissolved almost immediately, leaving behind a solitary LP that later attained cult favor and saw sporadic reissues, among them the 2006 edition retitled Turns You On.
