Florida-born Lynn Patrick, now based in Boulder, Colorado, has earned recognition as an acoustic guitarist, composer, and producer whose work carries multiple awards. After issuing her first vocal collection, Natural Voice Inside, in 1994, she began weaving together folk, jazz, country, bluegrass flatpicking, and new age elements within her own pieces, creating a hybrid sound resistant to easy labels. Her emotionally resonant compositions, whether performed alone, with her guitar trio, or alongside assorted chamber groups, have found frequent placement across television, radio, and film. The 1998 release Winnie’s Guitar highlighted her instrumental command, a focus she has since expanded through an ever-broadening range of stylistic explorations. When She Dreams, arriving in 2004, earned printed praise, while On the Wind in 2008 attracted notice from NPR and, together with its predecessor, secured an Independent Music Award. Patrick records sparingly, only when fresh material demands it, yet she maintains a schedule of hundreds of live appearances annually. Fire Mountain, released in 2012, brought global attention that led to a commission for original music in Barbara Kopple’s documentary Running from Crazy, which traces actress Mariel Hemingway’s personal path. She supplied additional songs for the daytime drama The Young and the Restless during 2016 and 2017. Her lush, award-winning album Strawberry Boat appeared in 2019.
