Biography
Kim Pflaum, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist who co-founded Yumi Zouma in Christchurch, New Zealand, shaped the lush, hazy electropop endeavor known as MADEIRA. She exited the band in late 2014, settled in Auckland, and composed emotionally purging material for the new solo outlet. Favoring a more streamlined sonic palette than the earlier group’s work, as heard on cuts such as Let Me Down issued by Ryan Hemsworth’s Secret Songs label, MADEIRA issued its first EP, Bad Humors, in September 2016 through Carpark Records.
