Biography
Madison Rose crafts intensely colorful dance-pop by channeling 1970s disco and 1980s pop through a contemporary queer lens. An avowedly independent musician, she first drew listeners in 2022 via “ICONIC!,” a self-declared anthem quickly adopted by the drag community. Building on that track’s online traction, Rose expanded her dedicated following through later 2024 singles such as “FALLING OUTTA HEAVEN” and “Moonlight.”
Raised in Cincinnati, she relocated to Los Angeles at age 11. After an early interest in acting, Rose turned to music upon enrolling in a songwriting course at 15. Her debut single, “Diamonds,” surfaced in 2018, accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams, and prompted a Billboard profile that same year.
Producer Kandy noticed “Diamonds” and joined Rose on the 2019 single “Keeping Secrets,” initiating an enduring creative alliance. Those releases, followed by their 2020 counterparts “rainbow phone” and “Saving Grace,” attracted major-label interest, yet negotiations collapsed shortly before “Sunshine” appeared in 2021.
“ICONIC!” emerged as Rose’s breakthrough later that year. Social-media creators propelled its spread by pairing it with videos, while drag icon and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumna Morgan McMichaels helped secure its place within the drag scene. Another near-miss with a major label reinforced her decision to remain independent; she issued the Arthur Besna-produced album TECHNICOLOR in 2022 and its rapid follow-up, TECHNICOLOR: The Full Spectrum, before year’s end.
After settling in New York City, Rose maintained a brisk output, unveiling the 2023 singles “IDOLIZE” and “Girls Girls Girls,” plus a Spotify Sessions rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors.” She extended “Girls Girls Girls” into the seasonal releases “Ghouls Ghouls Ghouls” and “Gifts Gifts Gifts.” These efforts earned a 2023 Queerty Award nomination for Breakout Musical Artist and an opening slot on Aqua’s tour.
In 2024 Rose appeared on Binoy’s “BoysBoysBoys” before issuing the singles “PARADISE,” “FALLING OUTTA HEAVEN,” and “Moonlight.”
