Biography
Emerging as a Scottish soul-rock vocalist, Maggie Bell first rose to fame performing with Stone the Crows, whose debut album appeared in 1970 before the band disbanded in June 1973. Moving into solo work, she released Queen of the Night in 1974, which contained the U.S. number 97 single “After Midnight,” followed by Suicide Sal; both albums registered on U.S. charts. Her only U.K. chart entries arrived with “Hazell,” which reached number 37 in 1978, and the 1981 duet “Hold Me” alongside B.A. Robertson, which climbed to number 11.
