Biography
The punk-tinged girlish energy of Magneta Lane flows from Lexi Valentine on vocals and guitar, Nadia King behind the drums, and French on bass. Assembling in autumn 2003, the three musicians devoted the ensuing twelve months to live performances across Toronto and nearby locales. Their output channels a bold, impudent rock style that projects the self-possession associated with the Runaways and the Pretenders while nodding to Nancy Sinatra, Sonic Youth, and the Kinks among its touchstones. Paper Bag put out the band’s first recording, the EP The Constant Lover, during fall 2004. The full-length studio debut Dancing with Daggers appeared in April 2006, produced by the team MSTRKRFT—Death from Above 1979’s Jesse F. Keeler alongside Al-P.
