Biography
During the mid-1960s Rocky Howell, Peter Pandalino and Rick Riddell first performed together as members of the high-school outfit the Shan-de-leers. David Lodge came aboard in 1967, at which point the group adopted the name Major Hoople's Boarding House. They continued playing clubs throughout their home province of Ontario until 1975, the year their single “I'm Running After You” reached national audiences. When James Leroy joined in 1976 the ensemble shortened its name to Boarding House, although Leroy himself died three years afterward. The Hooples Album appeared in 1981, and The New Adventures of Hooples followed in 1986. Howell fronted yet another incarnation of the band that remained active through parts of 1988.
