Mal & The Primitives

Genre: Pop
Origin: U.S.A

Essentially equivalent to the Primitives, Mal & the Primitives represented a one-off variation on that long-running British R&B-rock outfit from the 1960s, an act that released numerous discs through changing lineups yet never scored hits. The ensemble used the Mal & the Primitives billing for a solitary single issued in August 1965, fronted by lead singer Mal Ryder. Both tracks from the release appear on the Primitives' Maladjusted CD compilation. "Every Minute of Every Day" registers as a reasonably strong, rugged, and atmospheric soul-rocker, while "Pretty Little Face," penned by ex-Primitive John E. Soul, comes across as a rather feeble beat ballad.
