Malanga

Formed in 1998, the Venezuelan pop/rock foursome Malanga brought together ex-los Melodicos guitarist Rodolfo Pagliuca, aka Rudy, singer Arístides Barbella, drummer Juan Luciow, and ex-los Cañoneros bassist David Lasca, aka Chapis. The group handled production of its debut album Ta' Trancao in 1999, fusing Afro-Caribbean rhythms with rock. Issued the next year, the record contained the hits "Sacame El Jugo," "Déjala," and "Te Vas."
