Biography
Maniac Butcher emerged in 1992 as one of the Czech Republic’s earliest extreme metal outfits, predating the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia, and proceeded to issue several albums alongside a larger number of singles and shorter releases before the group dissolved near the close of the decade. Those recordings adhered closely to the misanthropic, cryptic, and emphatically lo-fi black metal template embraced by numerous European underground acts of the 1990s, such as Darkthrone and early Mayhem, while featuring a rotating cast of part-time players alongside the constant, corpse-painted core of Barbarud Hrom on vocals and Vlad Blasphemer handling guitar, bass, and drums.
