Biography
Manifesto Jukebox formed as an intense power trio in Finland and channels the melodic indie rock tradition that has thrived in underground circles ever since Hüsker Dü hammered out its early-'80s sound. The band launched its career in early 1999 by issuing a series of self-released 7" singles that quickly circulated its reputation across Europe. Its first full-length album arrived in late 2000, appearing solely on the Continent and reaching North American listeners only a year afterward; that record secured the group a foothold within Finland's own underground scene. Following extensive touring in support of the debut, the members kept composing material for a follow-up and tracked the new songs during spring 2002. Issued that summer under the title Remedy, the album delivered a more cohesive and emphatic refinement of the approach first heard on their initial release.
