Manuel Romero

From an early age, Manuel Romero cultivated his vocal abilities largely under the guidance of his father, a self-taught singer and guitarist. Breakthrough success followed the artist's victory in a talent competition backed by the Hispanic network Telemundo. The resulting project, El Mix de Manuel Romero, appeared in mid-2000 as his debut record. Recorded in San Antonio, TX with contributions from Los Caporales, the album presented material in both English and Spanish, among them the traditional "Mexico Lindo" and a rendering of Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria." At the age of 13, his natural vocal skills secured a deal with the Miami-based Warner Music Latina.
