Biography
Emerging from London, Marcel Wave crafts tense, wiry post-punk whose observational, sometimes spoken lyrics evoke city scenes and existential dread. Assembled from veterans of Sauna Youth and Cold Pumas, the five-piece issued its debut album, Something Looming, in 2024.
Keyboard player Lindsay Corstorphine and bassist Christopher Murphy, both formerly of Sauna Youth, share the lineup with guitarist Oliver Fisher and drummer Patrick Fisher—each of whom, like Corstorphine, had played in Cold Pumas—while singer Maike Hale-Jones completes the group. The band first surfaced with the demo EP Discount Demos in 2019; its members tracked the album across 2022 and 2023 before Something Looming appeared on Upset the Rhythm and Feel It Records in 2024.
