Biography
Originating from Belo Horizonte, Brazilian vocalist Maria Alvim gained swift local recognition after intensive vocal coaching. She earned her living through vocal work on advertisements, movie soundtracks, and studio sessions while appearing at musical events across the country, eventually forming a collaboration with guitarist Rick Udler. The pair toured Brazil, frequently accompanied by percussionist João Parahyba starting in 1993, during intervals between Udler’s various composition projects. Their debut album, Rhythm and Romance, was recorded in 1998 for Malandro Records by Udler and Alvim.
