Marian Bradfield rapidly established herself among Ireland's leading vocalists. Her initial television appearance occurred during March 1993 on the Gaelic-language program "Cursai" broadcast by Irish National Television, after which reviewers acclaimed her as "the golden girl of Irish music". The publication Hot Press quoted that "(Bradfield) pours out her heart and a rich palette of emotions". Readers of that magazine selected her as "Ireland's top female artist" in their poll, and reviewers designated her "best solo performer of 1993".

Her clear vocals combined with ironic compositions prove compelling. Tandem, an Irish label, offered her a recording agreement merely three weeks following the broadcast of "Cursai". The first album under this deal, titled "Marian", appeared in 1993, succeeded in 1995 by "Tonight Is Just For Us". Producer Pat Donne handled her 1998 release "The Emperor's Field"; his experience encompasses work with Ronnie Wood, The Wilde Oscars, Sonic Youth and House Of Pain. She contributed to the compilations "Folksong", "Celtic Woman" and "Countryfolk", issued across 1995 and 1996.
