Biography
Marian Renta works as a vocalist, tunesmith, and studio craftsman whose work centers on emotionally charged adult-alternative ballads colored by R&B and shaped by a stripped-down production aesthetic. Her debut full-length, One of a Kind, reached listeners in 2011; after stepping away from the industry she resurfaced a decade later via the EPs Headfirst and Great Deep.
She entered the world in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Newport News, Virginia, where childhood lessons in piano, composition, and theory gave her a formal grounding in music. Her father, a disc jockey whose sizable record library left a lasting mark, nurtured her early fascination with sound. While still in high school she started cutting demos and penning material for classmates. Following completion of a business degree she finished her own first album, One of a Kind, which appeared in 2011.
After withdrawing from music for much of the late 2010s, Renta resumed writing and tracking new material. Headfirst surfaced in the first months of 2021, followed that July by Great Deep.
