Mariangela

Mariangela, an Italian pop singer born Mariangela Argentino in Piacenza on December 4, 1984, showed determination to enter the entertainment industry at a young age by making her first television appearance when she was four. While attending high school she assembled a rock band, then cut several dance tracks in 2001 under the alias Sweet Mary before serving as a backing vocalist on the popular game programs Sarabanda and Furore. Additional exposure came through assorted talent and reality competitions for emerging artists, among them the San Remo Youth Academy in 2002 and the Reality Show Superstar Tour in 2004. From 2005 onward she issued singles under her own name, two of which—“M'ama o M'amerà” and “Odiami Senza Rancore”—became major successes after repeated plays on Striscia la Notizia. In 2007 she took the stage at the San Remo Festival to launch her debut album, ...Preparati a Volare, which reached gold certification in Italy within four months.
