Biography
From an early age, Argentinean celebrity Mariano Mores found himself drawn to classical music. One year of piano lessons earned the young artist a scholarship for further study in Salamanca, Spain. Exposure to Carlos Gardel soon shifted his focus, igniting a deep fascination with tango. An encounter with Mirna and Margot Mores at the PADI music academy led the pianist to join their ensemble, Las Hermanitas Mores, and to take their surname. By seventeen, Mariano Mores had become the accompanist for popular singer Francisco Canario, a role he maintained for over ten years before establishing both Orquesta de Cámara del Tango and Orquesta Lírica Popular Argentina. On screen he appeared in the classic films La Doctora Quiere Tango and La Voz De Mi Ciudad. In 2000 local authorities named him Best Tango Composer of the Century.
