Biography
Mario Cee blends urban rhythms with breaks, trip hop, drum'n'bass elements, and vocal performances, establishing himself among the premier remix producers and performers in London's subterranean dance community. Although his remixing efforts have extended to Echo, Deborah Miller from Massive Attack, and Busi Mhlongo, his standout contributions appear in his personal endeavors. Completed over the course of more than twelve months, his inaugural full-length release from 1998, Earth With II Suns, incorporated global instrumentalists and singers.
Originating from northern London within a Cypriot household, Cee relocated alongside his family to Cyprus upon turning thirteen. Earning acclaim swiftly as a skilled disc jockey, he received an offer to perform at the Whispers venue before reaching his fourteenth year. Upon completing military duties, he made his way back to England, where he spun records at Samantha's located in London's West End while organizing covert warehouse events. This led to a residency position at Club Ventura situated in Covent Garden. Amid growing recognition in the DJ circuit, Cee pursued further development by enrolling in sound engineering courses at London's School of Audio Engineering, subsequently gaining employment across multiple facilities post-graduation. Such positions encompassed Rollover, involving collaborations with Leftfield, Peter Andre, Shola Ama, and Dreadzone, in addition to Chrysalis, where remixes were crafted for Echo and Deborah Miller of Massive Attack. In 1997, following his signing to M.E.L.T., the artist issued Earth With II Suns the next year. He has persisted in providing remix services to fellow M.E.L.T. acts. His 2000 output, Afrika Meltdown, compiled various remixes he had produced. One year later, Cee founded Kronologik, his independent label dedicated to world music remixes.
