Mark Searcy, a guitarist fluent in blues, rock, and jazz, first grasped the instrument during his early teenage years yet waited until much later to chase a professional path in music. Following a fifteen-year break devoted to raising his family, a workplace injury impaired several of his fingers. He resumed playing as rehabilitation and issued his first album, Like Father, Like Son, in 2005. The Arkansas-bred, Texas-based musician has since delivered an array of stylistically broad recordings—Bullseye (2010), Hazepipe (2013), St. Mary's Street (2015), and Arkansas Boy (2021)—that blend pre-war blues, Delta blues, folk, jazz, country, and rock & roll. Over the course of his career he earned multiple award nominations, including the Musician of the Year honor at the 2014 Texas Music Awards, and he has also released several volumes of guitar tablature and music transcription. Beyond his own projects, Searcy has worked with Texas Delta Kings and appeared on recordings by Ginger Pickett, Doug Sahm, and Augie Meyers.
