Markant

Markant, born Carsten Endrass, earned cult status early on by releasing several albums each year in severely restricted pressings that carried steep prices. Collectors nevertheless went to considerable lengths to track down every edition. His productions explored downtempo techno edging into IDM and glitch, recalling the early work of Autechre and Boards of Canada. After nearly 30 vinyl releases, Infam appeared as the first Markant compact disc and drew enthusiastic notices from numerous publications along with dedicated trainspotters. Because the preceding LPs had routinely been limited to runs of 100–300 copies, the CD proved comparatively easy to obtain and offered convenient listening.
