Biography
In 1996 the future members of Mars Electric first assembled in Birmingham, Alabama, initially operating under the name Wish. Drawing influence from arena rock acts, the ensemble exists chiefly to present the material of lead vocalist and guitarist Jacob Bunton, whose performances are bolstered by guitarist Chris Simmons, bassist Carl Hopper, and drummer Matt Finn. The quartet became the inaugural new signing to A&R executive John Kalodner’s Portrait imprint, an affiliate of Columbia Records, and issued its debut album, Beautiful Something, in late February 2000.
