Biography
Martin Rütter, an animal psychologist and canine training specialist, has built a substantial profile across German-speaking Europe through frequent television appearances, published books, instructional DVDs, and a string of touring comedy programs that examine the relationship between dogs and their owners. Born in Duisburg, Germany, he completed his studies in animal psychology at the ATN Akademie für Tiernaturheilkunde Schweiz in Switzerland. In 1995 he opened his first training facility and introduced the non-vocal, non-violent DOGS method, an acronym for Dog Oriented Guiding System. The approach eventually supported more than one hundred schools operating throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. His first book collaboration appeared in 2004, and he soon became a regular presence on regional television. In 2008 the VOX network premiered his documentary series Der Hundeprofi. While the program ran for four seasons, Rütter published his debut novel, Wie Immer Chefsache, in 2010. That same year he developed a live comedy show about dogs and their handlers and took it on tour, later releasing the performance as the DVD Hund-Deutsch, Deutsch-Hund in 2013. A second stage production, Der Tut Nix!, reached DVD later in 2013, followed by his third touring show, NachSITZen, which appeared in 2015.
