Biography
Marty Krystall, a tenor saxophonist whose intensity reflects a measure of Ben Webster’s influence while remaining receptive to daring improvisations, has performed across multiple ensembles assembled by Buell Neidlinger across the decades. Operating as a Los Angeles studio musician from the late 1970s onward, he has also assisted in managing the K2B2 label and has documented sessions with Neidlinger in Krystall Klear and the Buells, in Buellgrass (later renamed String Jazz), with the group Thelonious, and on a tribute to Herbie Nichols.
