Biography
Chicago-born Marty Lloyd launched his solo endeavors following the breakup of his longstanding ensemble, the Freddy Jones Band, by initiating recording sessions for his first album, Marigold, within his personal studio space. To assemble the project, he enlisted seasoned producer Justin Niebank—previously collaborated with during his time in the Freddy Jones Band—along with ex-FJB member Rob Bonaccorsi, Michael Rhodes from Shawn Colvin's ensemble, and additional contributors. Drawing from his established background in the recording business, Lloyd refrained from pitching the completed tracks to record companies prematurely, preserving his artistic intent, which ultimately led to the album's issuance by Razor & Tie during May 2003.
