Biography
Martyr Privates emerged from Brisbane, Australia, crafting a direct yet energetic brand of rock & roll that fuses punk energy, psychedelic textures, and lo-fi experimentation. Guitarist and vocalist Cameron Hawes, whose earlier projects included I Heart Hiroshima and Slug Guts, formed the group in 2011. Adding bassist Ashleigh Shipton and drummer Sam Dixon to the lineup, the band issued its debut single, "Bless" b/w "Native Son," in February 2012. Australian audiences responded strongly enough by 2014 that the group secured a domestic release through Bedroom Suck Records for its first full-length effort while simultaneously arranging wider distribution via Fire Records in both the U.K. and the U.S. Titled simply Martyr Privates, the record was produced by Blank Realm’s Luke Walsh and appeared in September 2014.
