Biography
Emerging with bold swagger and defiant attitude, Marvelous Darlings fuse punk-pop, revived garage rock, and power pop. The Toronto group formed in 2007 when No Warning’s Matt DeLong joined Ben Cook, the Fucked Up guitarist known as Young Governor; the name originated from a misattributed line in the British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. Mark Fosco joined soon after. Their debut arrived on Deranged with the 7-inch “I Don’t Wanna Go to the Party,” which introduced a Ramones-meets-Gentleman Jesse sound. Across the next three years the band maintained a steady flow of singles on Wall Ride, Bachelor, P Trash, Takenbysurprise, Speedowax, and Plastic Idol, while their raucous live shows built further momentum. That onstage force was preserved on the 2010 Live at Gales LP, followed a year later by the singles compilation Single Life.
