Biography
Hailing from Missouri, Marvin Jackson performed as both a singer and guitarist in the rockabilly style. Between the late 1950s and early 1960s he issued multiple scarce singles through Crestwood Records, the imprint he ran himself. Although commercial reach never extended past regional audiences, Jackson’s approach offered a model of how rockabilly ought to be executed and presented. White Label Records issued an LP drawn from his recordings in 1985. Collector Records later combined that album with every independent single plus several previously unreleased tracks to form the 2004 collection titled When You Rock and Roll.
