Biography
On July 7, 1924, Iris Colleen Summers was born in Pasadena, California. Recognition for Mary Ford as a vocalist came chiefly through her marriage to the celebrated guitarist Les Paul. Their first encounter took place in the late 1940s, when Ford was performing country material, and the two soon produced a succession of popular jazz standards whose standout success was “How High the Moon.” Between 1953 and 1960 the couple presented their own television series, The Les Paul and Mary Ford at Home Show, and they maintained joint recording activity until their divorce in 1964. Ford died on September 30, 1977.
