Biography
Originating from New England, Marykate O'Neil grew up immersed in television viewing that fueled her deep fascination with pop culture. As the lead singer and songwriter of the Boston group Piewackit, she helped secure a recording contract with IRS Records, only for the band's relocation to California to cause its dissolution following the launch of their first album. Upon settling in New York City, O'Neil resumed her songwriting efforts, culminating in the assembly of her initial solo release in 2002, aided by producers Jill Sobule and Michael Deming.
