Biography
Masher forged a surf-tinged strain of intricate pop-punk by drawing on the combined inspirations of Devo, the Pixies, Shadowy Men From a Shadowy Planet, and the Minutemen. The lineup comprised vocalist/guitarist Adam Brisben, who had previously been in W.A.C.O., drummer Nick Scott, formerly of Popdefect, and bassist Leslie Denny, who came from the Neptunas; the three musicians first used the name Masher for their 1996 debut release. After spending three years playing shows across their hometown of Los Angeles, the trio issued their first full-length, Get These Spiders Off My Eyeballs, in 1999.
