Biography
Matt Bruno, a singer and songwriter based in Seattle, emerged amid the wave of post-grunge pop that bloomed in the city's vibrant music scene. Rather than echoing the sounds of Nirvana or Pearl Jam, his guitar pop draws primary inspiration from the 1960s and aligns closely with acts like the Posies and the Young Fresh Fellows. Having spent 19 years crafting songs and playing gigs throughout the Pacific Northwest without securing a major-label contract, Bruno issued his first album, Punch and Beauty, independently via Pop's Away during the summer of 1999. The enthusiastic reception within the power pop community fueled by online channels prompted Parasol Records to acquire and expand the release for a 2000 reissue.
