Biography
Born in Sainte-Anne, Guadeloupe, French contemporary R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Matt Houston (Matthieu Gore) relocated to Paris, France ahead of launching his professional path in music. Before turning 20, he launched the imprint On the Track. After signing with France’s longstanding Barclay label, he issued his first full-length project, Matt, in 1999. Although the 2000 single “12/003” climbed to number nine on the French charts, genuine commercial breakthrough arrived with the platinum-certified 2001 set R&B 2 Rue. Later projects encompassed Chant de Bataille (2006), Phoenix 2006 (2006), and Papa Est Back (2010). Racines (2012) was preceded by “Positif,” a track whose bilingual French-and-English lyrics advanced into France’s Top Five.
