Matthew Sabatella contributed his bass guitar work, songwriting, and vocals to numerous albums by other performers. Years spent playing in ensembles eventually prompted him to seize control of his direction, gradually steering toward a solo trajectory.

Born August 15, 1968, in Hartford, CT, Sabatella found music becoming central to his daily existence. He cycled through multiple bands, sharpening his abilities with each successive group. After relocating to Florida, he committed fully to music and joined the popular rock band Broken Spectacles in 1988. Following his departure from that ensemble, Sabatella collaborated with artists such as Amanda Green, Brian Franklin, Maria Marocka, Sixo, the Curious Hair, Jolynn Daniel, and many others.

By 1994 the prospect of a solo career had grown compelling. Listeners responded favorably to the pop/rock songs he composed and performed. His debut full-length album, Where the Hell Am I?, was finished by 1997 and included tracks such as "Ain't it Hard," "Reverend Maddog," "Goodbye My Love," and "Memory Coast." Sabatella produced the release himself on his own Slipstream Records label, featuring his keyboard and guitar playing alongside his singing and songwriting. Assisting on the sessions were singer and guitarist Brian Franklin, pianist Amanda Green, and drummer Jordan Steele Lash.

In 2000 Matthew Sabatella returned to the recording studio. Prior honors for his music already included recognition as one of Miami’s leading acoustic performers and the Best Bass Player Award from the South Florida Rock Awards.
