Biography
As a co-founder of Leaving Records, Matthewdavid first rose to attention within Los Angeles's experimental beatmaking community, though his output frequently moved beyond hip-hop into ambient and new age territories. Following the 2013 album Mindflight, he launched new age recordings under the name Matthewdavid's Mindflight, with the cassette Ashram marking the beginning in 2015. Trust the Guide and Glide, a double LP, came out in 2016, and later that year A Meditation on Events arrived, incorporating spontaneous joint efforts alongside Dntel, Mndsgn, and Diva Dompe. During 2017 Matthewdavid's Mindflight issued a split with Carlos Niño called SpringrainFlight, while NNA Tapes put out the Ophiuchus cassette from the project.
