Biography
Aspiring Finnish fiddle players have regarded Mauro Jarvela as a significant influence ever since the early 1960s. Once part of the Finnish fiddle group Kankaan Pelimannit, he has belonged to JPP—a leading Finnish folk band that also features fiddle work by his nephew Arto—beginning in 1984. Jarvela maintains his efforts to promote Finnish fiddle traditions by instructing students in Kastinen, his native town, and by heading the youth groups Jarvelan Napparit along with Mulukka.
