Biography
Maura Kennedy, born Maura Boudreau in Syracuse, New York, immersed herself during her early development in every dimension of rock and roll, experimenting with punk, heavy metal, roots rock, folk, and country. In 1993 she joined Nanci Griffith’s backing band for a two-month world tour. During those weeks on the road she grew close to fellow musician Pete Kennedy, who would later become her husband and creative partner. The couple eventually performed and recorded as the Kennedys, shaping bright, Celtic-tinged folk-pop that wove in strands of Americana. Following the release of the duo’s tenth album in 2008, they paused for a year to focus on individual projects. That break yielded Parade of Echoes, Maura Kennedy’s first solo record, which appeared on January 19, 2010.
