Maureen Christine recognized her destiny as a vocalist at the age of seven. Paid engagements did not begin until she reached fourteen. Among a select group of women vocalists dedicated to reviving classic standards and other traditional material from The Great American Popular Songbook, she has headlined at Chicago venues including the Palmer House and the Pump Room while also performing at the Woodstock and Oshkosh Opera Houses. Her debut release, My Romance, appeared in 2000 and showcased standards interpreted through an expressive, lucid approach supported by confident delivery and powerful vocal resources. Eminent jazz tenor saxophonist Pete Christlieb contributed to the project. The recording earned a pre-nomination for a Grammy in the Traditional Pop Category. Issued the following year, her second album The Very Thought of You expanded beyond standards to include material by one of her key influences, Barry Manilow, along with additional contemporary songwriters. Christine maintains a busy concert schedule that regularly features her revue Blue Skies and Broadway for Midwest audiences. Equipped with a sizable instrument she deploys with precision, she has established herself as a significant interpreter of traditional American popular song.
