Biography
In 1994 the Denton, Texas natives Jessica Nelson on vocals and keyboards, Cole Wheeler on bass, Wanz Dover on guitar and programming, Eric Hermeyer on guitar, and Mike Throneberry on drums formed the group later known as Mazinga Phaser. Their sound merged dense yet tuneful strands of psychedelia and space rock, a style first preserved on the 1996 full-length Cruising the Neon Glories of the New American Night issued by Aether Records. After the band shifted its base to Fort Worth, Texas, Idol Records released the follow-up album Abandinallhope in 1997 and the EP Counting Breaths two years afterward. Mazinga Phaser disbanded following the 2000 appearance of Dissatisfied Customers of Hallucination, after which Dover continued his work with Falcon Project.
