McKenna Mendelson Mainline

Having previously performed with Luke & the Apostles and the Ugly Ducklings, Michael McKenna assembled McKenna Mendelson Mainline together with Joe Mendelson on vocals, guitar, bass, and harmonica, Tony Nolasco handling vocals and drums, and Frank Sheppard providing vocals, bass, mandolin, and harmonica. Following the appearance of Stink in 1968 and Canada, Our Home and Native Land in 1971, the group shortened its name to Mainline and disbanded not long afterward. After the breakup, two further albums surfaced in 1972 and 1973: The Mainline Bumb N Grine Revue Live and Biscuit Meets Mainline. Joe Mendelson put out his debut solo album, Mr. Middle of the Road, in 1972. Michael McKenna and Tony Nolasco subsequently formed Diamondback. No Substitute, a reunion album featuring McKenna, appeared in 2017. Joe Mendelson, who also recorded under the name Mendelson Joe, died on February 7, 2023 at the age of 78.
