Biography
Originally a female quartet, Me First transformed into a mixed ensemble of two men and two women. Core sonic identity survived the departure of half the lineup, anchored by the steadfast presence of drummer Helen Williamson and lead vocalist Denise Campanaro. Williamson supplies backing vocals in addition to her drumming, while Campanaro writes material and plays guitar. Lead guitarist Jon Moldover and bassist/vocalist Chris Lenart complete the roster. Formed in San Francisco in 1995, the band has driven across the United States repeatedly to promote its catalog. Releases comprise the first full-length Awful Friendly, issued in 1997 on Broken Rekids, and Sorry Hangover, which appeared in 2000 via Sympathy for the Record Industry.
