Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Meadowlark comprises Rick Cyge on guitar and mandolin alongside flautist Lynn Trombetta. Cyge began with piano as his initial instrument, then absorbed the core principles of composition, harmony, and counterpoint while sharpening his skills and cultivating a deep affinity for Celtic traditions within Boston’s surrounding folk community. The Algerian-born French guitarist Pierre Bensusan served as his principal influence on guitar, particularly regarding the adoption of open tunings.

In 1991, Cyge first encountered flautist Lynn Trombetta in Scottsdale, Arizona; two years later they launched regular performances under the name Meadowlark. Their compositions respond keenly to nature’s reflective and restorative qualities, qualities that surface vividly on the duo’s debut self-produced release, Dance of the Sandpiper.
