The trio of Italian producers operating collectively as Meduza fuses melodic house foundations with fluid vocal lines. Their breakthrough arrived via the 2019 release “Piece of Your Heart,” which accumulated hundreds of millions of streams and elevated their profile across the EDM festival circuit. Subsequent singles included the 2022 track “Bad Memories” and the 2023 cut “Pegasus,” while their self-titled debut album surfaced in 2023. That same year the group also contributed “Fire,” the official anthem of the 2024 European Football Championship, alongside OneRepublic and Leony.
Prior to adopting the Meduza name, Luke Degree (Luca de Gregorio), Matt Madwill (Mattia Vitale), and Simon de Jano (Simone Giani) had already begun collaborating as a production unit around 2014. Each member had previously worked independently as a DJ, electronic musician, and beatmaker; together they initially focused on rap instrumentals and assorted joint projects. After several years of intermittent activity, the three friends shifted toward a house-oriented aesthetic and formally launched Meduza in 2018. Their debut offering, the hypnotic and sultry “Piece of Your Heart” recorded with British producers Goodboys, reached clubs worldwide following its February 2019 release and quickly became a global success. Hundreds of millions of streams later, the track thrust the trio into prominence. Throughout the remainder of 2019 they supplied remixes for Dido and Emily Warren before unveiling their second original single, “Lose Control,” in October; again featuring Goodboys, the song showcased lead vocals by Becky Hill. October 2020 brought “Paradise” with Dermot Kennedy, after which a series of remixes appeared; in 2021 the quartet of tracks collected on the EP Introducing Meduza followed.
That year also yielded “Headrush” featuring Elroii and “Tell It to My Heart” featuring Hozier. The 2022 single “Bad Memories” surpassed 100 million streams and was succeeded by “Under Pressure” and “Just a Feeling.” February 2023 saw the arrival of “Pegasus,” which included contributions from London house duo Eli & Fur. October 2023 marked the release of the full-length Meduza, an album that incorporated several earlier singles alongside new material recorded with Poppy Baskcomb and Em Beihold. Additional tracks “Musica” and “I Got Nothing,” the latter pairing the group with Ferreck Dawn and Clementine Douglas, appeared shortly afterward. In 2024 Meduza issued “Dola re Dola” with Varun Jain and “Money [Can't Save Us]” with Alec Monopoly, while also uniting once more with OneRepublic and Leony for “Fire (Official UEFA EURO 2024 Song).”
